Hey guys, decided to clear out some of my Guard I don't really use anymore and some Orks I found laying in my parents basement. Figured I'd post them here and on some forums I frequent before heading to eBay. If anyone is interested, just shoot me an email (click on the "Contact" tab up top). If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them in the comments and I'll answer them ASAP! I'm not really looking for a trade, but if you have some of the new Dark Eldar that are not painted and, preferably, not assembled, I'd certainly consider trading!
(Green is for sale, Orange is if "negotiations" are under way and Purple is sold)
IMPERIAL GUARD
5 Guardsmen on Sprue - link - $12 or BO
10 Vostroyan soldiers - link - $25 or BO (they are partially painted, but very easily stripped as they are just plastic. They also have some Resin bases I made awhile ago, they are NOT the black GW ones).
6 Valhallan soldiers - link - $25 or BO (these guys aren't sold anymore [as far as I can tell] and are just primed bar for one or two that have painted flesh. Again, metal so easily stripped.)
3 Mortar teams - link - $10 or BO (painted with really crappy bases, but they're easily cleaned off).
15 Guardsmen - link - $20 or BO (partially painted. Includes two guys from the command sprue here and here. Missing heads, shoulders were filed off as I originally planned on converting them to Valhallan warriors with greatcoats.)
Leman Russ Demolisher - link - $35 or BO (From old kit, Primed, Demolisher cannon itself is a bit warped but can be easily filed down. Missing top hatch).
Leman Russ - link - $35 or BO (From old kit, Primed. Cannon was built as a Nova cannon before the 5th edition codex was released (so it was based off of rumors)
31 Pig Iron Winter Sci Fi heads - link - $8 or BO (18 unpainted, the rest are partially painted but as they heads are metal, they're easily stripped. I only picture 25 heads, but I found six more in my bits box after taking pictures).
ORKS
5 Ork Nob Bikers with Painboy - link - $45 or BO (Painted and converted to look like Nobz rather than normal warbikerz. Some are not fully painted and just partially. Paint is not very heavy at all so painting over would not be a problem).
Ork Warboss - link - $12 or BO (Painted and converted a bit)

Golden Demon contest
As most of you know, Alex and I entered our first Golden Demon competition in Chicago. While neither of us won, we both made the final cut with our single miniatures (his Jarren Kell and my Commissar). The ironic thing is that these are our entries we spent the least amount of time on! My commissar took me about four hours, most of which was spent Thursday night before we left for Chicago Friday morning. Pretty satisfying if you ask me!
Here is my commissar (since i haven't posted pics of it yet):

GD entry #1
While I doubt I will win anything (or even make the cut) in Golden Demon Chicago, I figured I should at least give it a shot! Now the gravel on the base needs to be glued down a bit more, but other than that my first entry is done: a Valhallan Sentinel! I'm really happy with it even if it won't get me any awards.

Indecision, indecision...
I am very indecisive, as the title of the post suggests. Basically, it takes me repainting my army two, maybe three times before I settle on a scheme and my Valhallans are no different. Originally they were white coats with khaki pants. Blegh. Then they were Khaki coats with green pants/armor. Meh. Now they are Grey coats with Blue pants/armor. Niiiiccceeee. I like how it looks a lot and they are fun to paint (and not very time consuming...for me :p)
First, the repaint of the mortar crew....

Now my newly painted CCS. I did some more base experimenting to...well...little success. Some of them basically disentegrated which is disappointing to say the least. I'm still happy with the way they look, but need to perfect my methods still (I used baking powder instead of soda which, reading on the interwebs, is probably my problem. Live and learn!)

And, a little teaser I guess, my commissar who is getting a loving paintjob (possibly in time for July...)

The Krieg Have Arrived!!
When i opened the mailbox this morning a smile shot across my face as I saw a package addressed to me sitting in there, begging to be opened. What could've have been? My new Death Korps of Krieg platoon command squad for my Valhallans thanks to the awesome contest held by The 25mm Warrior!! Here is a picture of this INCREDIBLY DETAILED addition to my army:

All I need to do to get them "Valhallan-ready" is cut the plasma gun off and replace it with a lasgun and then, obviously, give 'em nice winter bases. Sadly, however, these are not the next things I'll be painting. First up is my Cadian Command squad (which I am in the process of converting) because I want to get them done for the Bell of Lost Souls contest. Ideally, I will have all 500 points painited by then (Alex and I have a doubles tourney on the 27th), but I forgot I'm going to Chicago from the 19th to the 24th for a friend's wedding. But, the order stuff will be painted in is:
- Mortar Squad (over 50% done already. I've been dragging my feet :( )
- Company Command Squad (for BoLS)
- Platoon Command Squad (Yay for Kreig!)
- Sentinel with Multilaser (about 10% painted already)
- Leman Russ Battle Tank (still have to assemble it >_<)
- 20 Infantry (10 converted, 10 still on the sprue. Though, worst case, I just use my casts which I have 10 painted already)
So, as long as I'm not lazy, all of that should be done by June 27th. Wish me luck!

Valhallan Mortar Team
My shipment of ProCreate arrived the other day so I began my Cadian conversions. I started off with my Mortar Squad and after converting them (which involved trimming down the shoulder pads and then blending that in with the soft armor plus extending the skirt to make it more like a greatcoat) I started painting them. The first team is done:

Alex and I are going to be in a 1000pt doubles tourney at the end of the month (500pts a side) so I will paint up my force for that in the coming weeks so expect many updates from me! Plus, that Death Korps prize from the 25mm Warrior should be coming in soon so that will be a great update there!

K-K-K-K-K-YEEAAAHHH!
So the results are in and I won the caption contest held on The 25mm Warrior with an astonishing 55% of the votes. To say I was surprised would be a huge understatement. What do I win, you ask? A DEATH KORPS of KRIEG COMMAND SQUAD!!
What's awesome is that Alex and I were just talking about the viability of using Krieg minis, converting them a bit, and using them as Valhallans. I decided I was going to drop some cash on them when we go to Games Day Chicago and then this contest popped up! What a coincidence! The OTHER awesome thing is that these will officially by my squad entry for Golden Demon (boosting the amount of entries I'll have up to four).
To wrap it up: Thank you 25mm Warrior for holding this very fun and original contest and offering this wonderful prize! All the entries were very good (Chris from Order Minoris being my favorite with "Oi Gazgog, I told you ta steal James, red onez go fasta!" :D). Hopefully there will be more From the Warp community contests popping up like this as they really bring the community to life!
Side note: Expect some Valhallan updates in the near future. As I mentioned, my Cadian Battleforce is in and I just need my Pig Iron heads and some ProCreate to come in from The War Store and the conversions will begin!

Valhallan casts: first squad painted!
Well I finished painting my first Valhallan squad. Meh. I'm so used to painting high quality Games Workshop models that going to casts I made is, well, different. The coats aren't very detailed which was very confusing for me to paint. Also, since the casts had imperfections, they really messed up the way I paint because the final product looks very sub-par. I'm, suffice to say, disappointed at the quality of the models (but hey, it was my first attempt at casting!) but I'm happy with the scheme so far. Not with the quality of the squad because, as I said, it's very sub-par IMO. At the same time, at least I got them done. Only 30 more of these to get done :/
Luckily I already pre-ordered the Cadian battleforce so those conversions will, I promise, look LOADS better painted. I think I'm going to use my casts as Conscripts where I can. For now they are my troops though!
Anyways, onto the pics!

10 points for me :D

5th edition IG codex army list
Well Alex and I got our grubby little hands on the new 'dex and I just created a simple list with what I currently own (or plan to buy: the Cadian Battleforce). Now this isn't a list I would use, but really gives me an idea of exactly what I need to buy to build my ideal fluffy Valhallan list.
Here it goes:
HQ
Company Command Squad - 172pts
- Company Commander
+ Bolt Pistol
+ Power Fist
- 4 Veterans
+ 3 Las Pistols/Close Combat weapons
+ Vox Caster
+ Heavy Flamer
+ Medi-pack
+ Carapace Armor
- Officer of the Fleet
Elites
Storm Troopers x8 - 153pts
+ Grenade Launcher
+ Plasma Gun
Troops
Platoon A = 370pts
Command - 100pts
- Commander Chenkov
- 4 Veterans
+ 4 Las Pistols/Close Combat Weapons
+ Platoon Standard
+ Vox Caster
Squad 1 - 60pts
+ Vox
+ Grenade Launcher
Squad 2 - 55pts
+ Flamer
Conscripts x20 - 155pts
+ "Send in the Next Wave"
Platoon B = 340pts
Command - 35pts
+ Vox Caster
Squad 1 - 100pts
+ Commissar
+ Vox
+ Flamer
Squad 2 - 55pts
+ Grenade Launcher
Heavy Weapon Squad 1 - 60
+ 3 Mortars
Heavy Weapon Squad 2 - 60
+ 3 Mortars
Fast Attack
Armored Sentinel - 85pts
+ Plasma Cannon
Heavy Support
Vanquisher - 205pts
+ Commander Pask
Leman Russ Squadron - 580pts
- Executioner

-Eradicator
+ Las Cannon
+ Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Total = 2005pts
95 infantry, 5 tanks
===============================================
Ok, basic logic behind choices....
My Company Command squad will be a close combat unit. The med-pack gives them Feel No Pain, making them much more resilient and you can never go wrong with Heavy Flamers! Plus, having them deeply entrenched with the enemy will help the Company Commander to dish our orders to the guardsmen who are also deeply entrenched. Officer of the Fleet, with his -1 to enemy reserve rolls, will be incredibly useful I think.
Platoon A is my human wave, basically. I will use Chenkov's command squad to aid the Conscripts who will be rushing forward and just having a grand ol' time. When the conscript squad is low on men, I'll use the "Send in the Next Wave" rule I bought for them and have a full 20-man squad of conscripts back on my table edge to take nearby objectives. Squads 1 and 2 will be made into one squad using the "Combined Squads" special rule (yeah, totally aweosme I know!) to make them a large clean-up force on the front lines.
Platoon B will be the fire support squads. 6 mortars in the back wreaking havoc with Squads 1 and 2, again, combined, to dish out some nice damage. The commissar is there to make sure they don't retreat.
Storm Troopers. They're expensive: same cost as a marine. I will be giving them a test run or two in games to see what I think of them, but I highly doubt they'll be a mainstay in this army. I just have some Vostroyans which look like cool Valhallan Storm Troopers IMO. They might end up being Vets or something, but I only have 6 or 8 of them (can't remember) so I'd need to buy a few more.
Armored Sentinel, tad on the expensive side with that Plasma Cannon, but I figured I'd give it a go. I'm going to magnetize the weapons so I can try out different things in different games, but I think they will be best in squadrons.
Now the bulk of my points cost: tanks. I put Commander Pask in the Vanquisher because he increases the tank's BS to 4 and adds +1 to Armor Pen which makes an alreayd potent tank hunter even morso. The squadron of Executioner and Eradicators are there mainly because I like the tanks. Exectuioner vaporises MEQs while the Eradicators kill everything else (and ignores cover which is always great!) Though at nearly 600 points for the squadron, I think it may be an Apocalypse thing only for me.
I REALLY like infantry in this new codex. I'm totally stocking up. I want at least 30 more men in this list. I also want to get at least one Hellhound and WILL get some Griffons in this army. Re-rolling the scatter die is too good to not take! Of course, I'll wait until the plastic version that is rumored comes out.
Anyways, hopefully may ramblings will give you some ideas. Any one else get a chance to see the new codex? What do you think of it and what do you like/dislike about it? If you haven't seen it and have any questions feel free to ask!

Leman Russ Executioner Conversion
Hey guys, Kev here. Well, Executioners look, and are, awesome. The new CAD drawings of what is thought to be the new Executioner turret really made me want to have one. Now. So, since I had three un-assembled LRs sitting next to my desk, I decided to build one! Forgive the shoddy looking plasticard, that's becaue I use plasticard as a makeshift palette occasionally. It's nothing special, but it still looks cool in my opinion!
Next up on the build list: two Eradicators (with the Nova Cannons).

Vanquisher Redux
Hey guys, it's Kev. I posted that Leman Russ Vanquisher earlier but kind of stopped working on it. I don't know why, it was just kind of... "meh". Then on John's Toy Soldiers I saw a pic of the new IG codex that had a wonderfully painted Valhallan Leman Russ. So, using that as inspiration, I decided to re-paint my tank. Originally I was going to wait until I finished this thing to post it, but Alex really wanted to see it and, quite frankly, I probably won't finish it for a few weeks because I have a lot of crap i have to do. So here is the PIP of the newly painted Vanquisher:

I haven't gotten very far with the turret yet, so I left it off.
Hope you guys like it!
